Electricity Resources First Community Energy Partnerships Program project is up and running The first Community Energy Partnerships Program (CEPP)-supported project is connected to the grid and generating electricity. Donna and Harold Feddema received $50,000 in grants from the CEPP to develop a 250-kilowatt solar installation on the rooftops of their two chicken barns near Grimsby. The solar project, called FedSol, is providing a second revenue stream for their farm that is guaranteed for 20 years with a contract through the Feed-In-Tariff Program. The Feddemas credit the CEPP with making it possible to get started. According to Donna, the “CEPP was very helpful to us. It gave us some breathing room to make good decisions about the project without risking everything.” The CEPP is a grant program that supports community power in Ontario. Community power projects can apply for funding support of up to $200,000. Click here to learn more about the FedSol project. Click here for more information about the CEPP. |
